Operation Sindoor: India Downs Pak F-16 Amid Drone Strikes in Jammu, Punjab, Rajasthan

Drone and missile attacks on Thursday hit several areas of Jammu, as well as portions of Rajasthan and Punjab, in a dramatic uptick that came a day after India struck terror facilities in Pakistan. A Pakistani F-16 fighter jet and maybe a JF-17 were successfully shot down by India. India’s air defence system stopped more projectiles, and a drone strike happened close to Jammu Civil Airport. Explosions were reported in several places, including Pathankot and Jaisalmer, and drones were apparently seized.

After evaluating the scenario, defence sources said that the Pakistan Army is acting and acting similarly to the Palestinian militant organisation Hamas. Additionally, they said that in April, Hamas and Pakistan’s spy organisation, the ISI, met in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir.

India’s air defence system stopped at least eight missiles, and one of the drones hit Jammu Civil Airport. In the vicinity of Jammu University, two other drones were shot down. The Akash, MRSAM, and Zu-23 are among the surface-to-air missile defence systems being used by the Indian Army and Air Force. In Chandigarh, sirens were heard, and drones were stopped in Jaisalmer, Rajasthan, and Pathankot, Punjab. For the past hour, Indian soldiers have been actively trying to shoot down the drones in midair, attacking the Army and the airbase in Jaisalmer.

As India engaged its defence system, a Pakistan Air Force F-16 supersonic fighter jet was shot down. In Jammu and several areas of Punjab and Rajasthan, there was a total blackout, and sirens were sounded in several cities.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi met with National Security Advisor Ajit Doval, who gave him an update on the current state of affairs. Villagers along India’s border with Pakistan were evacuated from the area of fire. After a Pakistani attack, the Punjab Kings vs. Delhi Capitals IPL 2025 game in Dharamshala was cancelled. After 10.1 overs on Thursday, the game was called off after PBKS had lost their first wicket. For their protection, players were led out of the stadium right away.
