Highly transmissible variant of Covid-19 Omircon, is now being identified in countries from US to South Korea, making difficulties in curbing it’s spread.
Mostly the virus spreads through travellers carrying the disease across borders. Israel, for example, said a confirmed case who showed up from Malawi rode on a transport from Tel Aviv. Italy’s first case travelled across the country for a really long time earlier to testing positive. The first omicron case was confirmed in the U.S. in an individual who got back from South Africa, said the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
Researchers all across the world are busy in finding out all possible consequences of the new variant and the governments have imposed travelling restrictions to curb the spread of the virus. It is also said that Omicron may also evade the effect of vaccines and may lead to new surges.
The countries where the virus has taken it’s entry include South Africa, Botswana, United Kingdom, Germany, Netherlands, Denmark, Belgium, Israel, Italy, Czech Republic, Austria, Switzerland, France, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, Hong Kong, Australia, Japan, Canada, Brazil, Norway, Ireland, US, South Korea, U.A.E and Saudi Arabia.
The present variant has been also declared as ‘variant of concern’ by the World Health Organization.
