The University Grants Commission (UGC) chairman Jagdesh Kumar tweeted that the UGC National Eligibility Test (NET) 2022 exams for the December 2021 and June 2022 cycles will be held in the first or second week of June 2022.
The National Testing Agency (NTA) will publicise the exam dates as soon as they are finalised.
Candidates applying for Assistant Professor and Junior Research Fellowship and Assistant Professor in Indian universities and colleges must pass the UGC-NET exam.
The exam is generally held twice a year, however due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the cycles have been consolidated.
In 2021, the two UGC-NET cycles of December 2020 and June 2021 were integrated and performed in three phases in computer-based test format between November 20 and January 5. From November 20 to December 5, the first part was held. The third was conducted on January 4 and 5, 2021, and the second was held from December 24 to 27.
Last year, 6,71,288 candidates out of 1,26,6,509 registered candidates appeared, with only 52,857 qualifying.
