The Centre assured the Supreme Court on Monday that counseling for NEET Post Graduate medical courses for 2021 will not begin until the court resolves a pending matter regarding EWS reservation in the NEET All India Quota.
“Mr Nataraj, we are accepting your word for it,” Justice D Y Chandrachud told Additional Solicitor General K M Nataraj before a bench led by Justice D Y Chandrachud.
The petitioners in this case are seeking to have the July 29 notification establishing a 27% reservation for OBCs and a 10% reservation for EWS in the AIQ beginning in the 2021-22 academic session quashed.
Senior Advocate Arvind Datar informed the court on Monday that the counseling dates had been set. He informed the court, “They have published a whole schedule beginning on (October) 24 and finishing on the 29th.” “This notice that you have received was only designed for colleges for the purpose of seat verification,” ASG Nataraj explained.
Intervening, the bench told the ASG that it would take his word for it that counseling would not begin until the petitions were resolved.
