Union Roat Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari is set to visit Banihal-Qazigund Tunnel today to inaugurate the 925-meter long tunnel.
Tube 1 of the tunnel connects Peeda with Kunfar, Chandrakot to the country.
Under the guidance of National Highway Authority of India (BHAI), Gammon India Limited is constructing the tunnel.
Along with Mr Gadkari, Parliamentary Consultative Committee of the Ministry of Road Transport and Highway (MoRTH) and also the Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha will also take part into the inauguration.
All arrangements along with high level security have been put into place at the site.
Security forces along with the senior police officials have also reached the destination.
Meanwhile, Mohita Sharma and Sunil Gupta who are SSP Ramban and DIG Doda-Kishtwar-Ramban Range respectively also visited Banihal and Chandrakot to take stock of the situation.
