New Eviction Notice Issued To TMC Leader Mahua Moitra, See What Rules Say

Eviction notice has been issued to former Trinamool Congress MP Mahua Moitra by the Directorate of Estates on Tuesday, said the Ministry of Union Housing and Urban Affairs. The minister was also expelled from the Lok Sabha last month.

The TMC leader has been ordered to vacate the government bungalow with an immediate effect which she was allotted as an MP.

“Since the eviction notice was issued to her (Moitra) on Tuesday, a team of officials from the directorate of estates will now be sent to ensure that the government bungalow is vacated at the earliest,” said sources.

After being expelled from the Lok Sabha on December 8, the TMC leader had been asked to vacate her government bungalow by January 7 following the cancelation of her allotment. The Directorate of Estates on January 8 again issued a notice questioning the former MP why the bungalow was not vacated.

However, the Delhi High Court on January 4 asked Ms Moitra to approach the DoE requesting to allow her to continue to occupy the government bungalow.

Meanwhile, responding to the challenge filed by the TMC leader against the notice asking her to immediately vacate the bungalow by January 7, noted that as per the rules the authorities can overstay for up to six months with payment of certain charges.
