Amid Nationalist Congress Party’s preparations to get the successor, veteran leader Sharad Pawar who has recently resigned as party chief is yet to take the final call on requests demanding him to take back his resignation.
Meanwhile, Mr Pawar’s daughter Supriya Sule is at the first choice to be elected as the new chief.
A meeting of committee formed to take further action into the matter will take place today. As per the sources, it is said that Supriya Sule will take the place of new successor.
However, there is one challenge which the party is facing is to keep Sharad Pawar’s nephew Ajit Pawar within the fold.
The NCP is currently in talks with its allies Shiv Sena faction led by Uddhav Thackeray and Congress to present its top leader as the chief ministerial candidate of Maha Vikas Aghadi in the next assembly election.
As Ajit Pawar’s proximity with BJP is growing, the move by Mr Pawar of stepping down from the Party Chief position was seen as a step meant to obstruct him.
On Tuesday, in a shocking announcement NCP Chief Sharad Pawar had resigned from his top position in the party.
