The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) on Monday has moved a petition in Supreme Court questioning the Bombay High Court order that granted bail to actress Rhea Chakraborty. The NCB had arrested the actress in the accusations of drugs-related charges in the death case of late actor Sushant Singh Rajput.
A bench of three judges headed by Chief Justice SA Bobde and Justices V Ramasubramanian and AS Bopanna will be hearing the plea on March 18.
Last year on October 7, the Bombay HC had granted her bail and asked her to deposit a personal bond of Rs1 lakh.
The court had however, rejected the bail pleas of her brother Showik Chakraborty and a drug peddler Abdel Basit Parihar who are also accused in the case.
The actress, her brother, the peddler and all other accused were arrested by NCB in September last year during the investigation into the drugs angle of the Sushant Singh Rajput’s death.
During the granting of bail, the HC had directed Rhea Chakraborty and two others to submit their passports with the NCB and asked them not to the leave the country without seeking the permission of the special NDPS court.
The Court had also asked her to deposit a bond of Rs 1 lakh and to visit the NCB office on the first day of every month at 11 am for the next 6 months.
All those including Rhea who have been granted bail by the court will have to ask the NCB’s investigating officer before going out of Mumbai, said the court during the time of their bail.
The late actor Sushant Singh Rajput, 34, was found hanging from fan in his flat in Suburban Bandra in the morning of June 14, last year.
