The Parliament’s Monsoon Session is going to begin today, July 20 and will be ending on August 11. The session begins when both the BJP and the opposition parties are gearing up for the upcoming elections in four states this year and the Lok Sabha elections next year.
Two days before the beginning of the Monsoon Session, 26 Opposition parties had gathered in Bengaluru for a strategy plan to take on BJP in 2024 elevations. Total 26 opposition parties took part in it.
After the all-party meet convened by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Pralhad Joshi told that the government was ready to discuss all the 31 listed legislative issues as per the rules.
“All the parties want a discussion on Manipur and the government is ready to discuss it,” he further said.
Around 31 Bills are set to be tabled in this Monsoon Session of Parliament which will also include the bill to replace the ordinance on the control of services in Delhi.
The Bills that are expected to be tabled include – The DNA Technology (Use and Application) Regulation Bill, 2019; The Cinematograph (Amendment) Bill, 2019; The Biological Diversity (Amendment) Bill, 2022; The Mediation Bill, 2021; The Repealing and Amending Bill, 2022; The Government of National Capital Territory of Delhi (Amendment) Bill, 2023 (to replace ordinance) and others.
Meanwhile, Congress said if the government wants a peaceful functioning of the Parliament’s Monsoon Session then it must give due importance to the issues raised by the opposition.
Congress has also demanded a discussion over the Manipur violence during the session.
