Monsoon Session Likely To Held On Its Normal Schedule : Prahlad Joshi

Expressing his hope on Monsoon Session of Parliament Union Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Prahlad Joshi on Tuesday said it will be as its normal schedule and will commence in July.

“I am hopeful that Parliament session will be held as per its normal schedule starting in July,” told Joshi to news agency PTI.

Although, the modalities to hold the parliamentary session this year are still being discussed.

The authorities are sure enough for holding the session as majority of the parliamentarians, staff members of both Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha and all other stakeholders have received their first dose of vaccine.

The meetings Parliamentary Standing Committees are also likely to resume in June.

In 2020, the Monsoon Session was delayed to September and the Winter Session was cancelled due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

This year the Budget Session was also ended by Marc 25. The first part of the session was started on January 29 and was ended on February 29 while, the second part was started on March 8 but was scheduled to end on April 8.

The Parliament holds three sessions every year, the Budget session (January/February to May), Monsoon session (July to August/September) and Winter session (November to December).
