A mob of hundreds beated a Dalit man to death over a rape complaint filed by his sister in 2019 in Sagar district of Madhya Pradesh. The mob also beated his sister and stripped naked their mother when she tried to save her son and daughter.
So far eight accused have been arrested after a case was filed against nine main accused on charges of violating SC/ST Act and murder, said Sanjeev Uikey, Additional Superintendent of Police.
Sister of the deceased 18-year-old man told that a group of people were forcing her to compromise in 2019 case that resulted in this attack.
“They thrashed him a lot. He couldn’t survive. Hume beparda kar diya. I was stripped. Then the cops arrived and I was handed a towel. I stood there in a towel until they got me a saree, ” said the mother as she narrated the nightmare.
The mob even vandalized their house. “None of the household items are left intact. Even the pucca roofs were broken,” she said.
Aunt of victim also told that the mob even forcefully entered her house and threatened her children and husband. “They would have killed my children and husband too. They entered the house wearing slippers. They even checked our fridge,” she said.
Following the incident, the situation in the region is very tense and heavy police personnel have been deployed.
The family of the victim performed the last rites for their son after the district collector assured justice for their family.
The district collector even assured them assistance under government schemes and arrests of all the accused.
