MKM Hold Statewide Protest Demanding Resignation From Devendra Fadnavis On Sunday

Maratha Kranti Morcha (MKM) demanding resignation from former Chief Minister of Maharashtra Devendra Fadnavis further intensified its protest on Sunday.

The protests by the MKM workers are being held in Western Maharashtra, North Maharashtra, Vidarbha, Dadar, Konkan and Marathawada.

These protests came after state Police used baton and tear gas to disperse the crowd in Jalna district at Antarwali Sarathi. At least 40 people were injured during the clash between the police and the protesters.

The police had gone to shift Manoj Jarasange who was on hunger strike. “We were protesting peacefully and police also initially spoke well with us. But then there was a call and they started forcefully removing us, leading to the incident, ” said Jarasange.

Meanwhile, the state transport services have been suspended in several parts of the state.

Many leaders including Shiv Sena (UBT) president Uddhav Thackeray and NCP supremo Sharad Pawar expressed solidarity with the protesters.

“The protesters want government to immediately issue a GR (government resolution) on Maratha reservation and implement the quota in government jobs and education. Police personnel who resorted to lathicharge should also be suspended and Deputy CM Devendra Fadnavis who holds home portfolio should take responsibility and resign, ” said an anonymous coordinator from MKM.
