The star campaigner Mithun Chakraborty who has recently joined Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Friday hailed the voter turnout a day after polling in the second phase on Thursday (April 1).
“Definitely, we will win. Why won’t we win? 84 per cent vote is big and means that people are voting against the government,” said Chakraborty while campaigning for another star campaigner Tanushree, who is contesting from Howrah’s Shyampur.
He has been also campaigning for Suvendu Adhikari in the last phase of the campaigning in Nandigram. Mithun Chakraborty joined BJP on the day when Prime Minister Modi had addressed a rally at Kolkata’s brigade parade ground.
Mithun Chakraborty had earlier said he had no intentions of contesting the assembly elections. “No, I am not contesting. I will campaign and am confident that the BJP will win,” said Chakraborty, who had earlier also denied of contesting elections.
On Friday he was also seen campaigning in Hooghly, South 24 Parganas and Howrah, the constituencies which will under go polling in the third phase of polls on April 7.
