In the allegations Singh has alleged Deshmukh for asking Sachin Vaze to collect Rs 1 crore from the Mumbai hotels and bars on a monthly basis.

A bench headed by the Chief Justice Dipankar Datta and Justice Girish Kulkarni said the case was an “unprecedented” and “extraordinary” one that warranted an independent inquiry.

The The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) had been requesting his resignation since the former Police Commissioner sent a letter that alleged the Home Minister of the corruption and misconduct.

Early in the month Param Bir Singh had also filed a plea in Supreme Court demanding an immediate investigation into the matter to which the Supreme Court had directed him to file his plea in Bombay High Court.

The former Police official has claimed that Deshmukh had even conducted a meeting with many Mumbai Police officials at his own residence in the month of February this year.

The Bombay HC in its order today has asked the CBI’s director to complete the preliminary inquiry within next 15 days and then any further action. The bench was however, focusing on three PILs (Public Interest Litigations) that included one from Singh, second from Mumbai based advocate Jayshree Patil and the third by a teacher Mohan Bhide. All these litigations were seeking reliefs.
