Maharashtra on Wednesday surpassed the 1,000 mark in new Covid-19 cases with 1,115 new cases leading to 5,421 active caseload in the state. Mumbai alone contributed 320 cases.
On Tuesday, the state registered 919 new cases.
According to the information issued by the state health department, total deaths in last 24 hours stood at 9 with a fatality rate of 1.82%.
Meanwhile, with 98.11% recovery rare total 560 patients were recovered in last 24 hours.
India has been now continuously facing a daily rise in Covid cases – mostly from Delhi and Maharashtra.
On Wednesday, total 7,830 fresh Covid cases were reported across the country, which is highest in 223 days.
Amid this daily rise in Covid cases the Union Health Minister on Monday led a two-day mock drill to check the preparedness of hospitals.
Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya even asked the states and UTs to identify emergency hotspots in view of severe acute respiratory infection (SARI) and infleunza-like illness (ILI) cases.
However, the specialists have predicted that initially the country will face a continuous rise in daily Covid cases for around 10-12 days but then they will start falling.
