Reports suggest that Kuki organisations are enlisting juvenile soldiers for major operations with an eye towards the future amid the turmoil in Manipur.
Even security forces are unsure of the precise number of boys in these forces. But according to well-placed sources, youngsters between the ages of 11 and 14 have been enlisted and groomed for war and conflict.
According to the sources, the goal of this recruiting of young people is to develop a resilient generation that can support the movement for a long time.
One of the youngsters was identified by sources as Khaminlen, who goes by Kiran Akhomin. He is a Leimakhong juvenile who is purportedly a member of the Kuki National Front (KNF). According to reports, this child took part in the November 11 attack on the Kanchup region.
According to intelligence sources, this development is quite dangerous. They worry that in the future, these young boys might be used as drug dealers.
According to a high intelligence source, “Kuki [groups] know that children will serve shorter jail terms if apprehended, and a hardcore cadre is already prepared.”
