On Friday, April 11, Prashant Kishor, the founder of the Jan Suraaj Party, asserted that Chief Minister Nitish Kumar would be given a “political funeral” due to the state’s impending Assembly elections. Prashant Kishor made these comments during the “Bihar Badlaw Rally,” which was held at Patna’s expansive Gandhi Maidan. He also attacked Prime Minister Narendra Modi and former Chief Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav for “letting the state down.”
In October or November of this year, the Jan Suraaj Party is expected to run in its maiden Bihar Assembly election. The party did not open their account in the previous by-election contests. Prashant Kishor accused the administration of having tried to thwart “entry into the city of at least two lakh people coming from other parts of the state”.
The former election strategist said he would host a “rajnitik shraddh” for the 74-year-old leader and accused the administration of following the chief minister’s and JD(U) chairman’s directions. “Let us resolve to root out this government. The people of Bihar were let down by Lalu Prasad who brought in ‘jungle raj’. They are now reeling under a new type of bureaucratic ‘jungle raj’ under Nitish Kumar. And (prime minister) Narendra Modi, who backs Nitish, has also disappointed the people,” Prashant Kishor said.
“It is called ‘Badlav Rally’ because when I walked for 2 years, I heard just one word the most – Badlav (change). Be it the supporters of RJD, BJP or Nitish Kumar, everyone wants a change in Bihar. They want a political alternative in Bihar,” he said.
“They want to speak about education and jobs in Bihar…Jan Suraaj’s culture and work style are different from other parties. You won’t find our workers extorting, looting and fighting. They will do their event in a disciplined manner,” Kishor said.
