JioHotstar revealed on Thursday that the second season of the spy thriller series Special Ops, which stars Kay Kay Menon, will soon be available on the streaming service.
Kay Kay Menon returns as Himmat with another intriguing case in a 30-second teaser that the streamer posted. Himmat’s team members Karan Tacker, Saiyami Kher, Vinay Pathak, Muzammil Ibrahim, and Meher Vij are also featured in the video. “Himmat and the team is back,” the streamer captioned the video on Instagram.
Reacting to the post, a fan wrote, “My absolute favourite actor of all time! I can watch your work on loop, sir. Much love and respect.” Another fan commented, “The best Spy Thriller is Back.”
Special Ops was an immediate smash when it was released in March 2020, a few days after the global Covid-19 pandemic. The eight-episode spy series, which was created by Neeraj Pandey, the guy behind classic thrillers like A Wednesday!, Baby, and Special 26—was acclaimed for its tight direction, captivating plot, and outstanding performance.
Himmat Singh, a resolute intelligence officer, leads a clandestine team in a hazardous mission to apprehend a notorious terrorist, bringing an end to a rigorous 19-year pursuit, in Season 1 of the show. “A relentless hero and a terror mastermind are engaged in a high-stakes race against time, as Himmat Singh and his team embark on a mission to end a 19-year-long manhunt,” reads the synopsis on IMDb.
JioHotstar (formerly Disney+Hotstar) released Special Ops 1.5: The Himmat Story, a four-episode origin story about how Himmat Singh became Himmat Singh, in November 2021.
Prakash Raj plays a significant part in the second season as well. Additional information on the series is not disclosed. The Netflix series Khakee: The Bengal Chapter, which stars Prosenjit Chatterjee and Jeet, was recently created by Neeraj Pandey. Anurag Basu’s Metro In Dino is in the works, featuring Kay Kay Menon.
