Jadeja Helps CSK Lift IPL 2023 Trophy For 5th Time, Dedicates Crown To MS Dhoni

In a thrilling IPL final against Gujarat Titans, Ravindra Jadeja, who helped Chennai Super Kings win with a key Shubman Gill wicket and heroics with the bat in the final over, dedicated CSK’s fifth title to MS Dhoni.

In his tenth final for the team, MS Dhoni guided CSK to a record-equaling fifth IPL championship. One of the best IPL finals ever was contested when Chennai Super Kings defeated Gujara Titans in a rain-delayed decider by chasing down a revised target of 171 off 15 overs.

Jadeja smashed sixes and fours off the final two balls of the season, which helped CSK tie Mumbai Indians for the most IPL titles with five, with 13 runs needed off the final over.

Ravindra Jadeja congratulated the CSK supporters for enduring the rain that cancelled play on Sunday and forced the championship game into the reserve day following the game. Rain stopped CSK’s chase after only three balls, and even then there was a delay of two hours and twenty minutes. Jadeja also gave Dhoni credit for the triumph.

“It feels fantastic to win my fifth championship in front of my own supporters. They’ve flocked to support CSK in large numbers. This group has been incredible. They waited until late at night for the rain to stop. Want to say big congratulations to CSK fans. Want to dedicate this win to one of the special members of our team – MS Dhoni. I was just thinking that I need to swing hard no matter what. Yeah, anything can happen. I was looking to hit straight because Mohit can bowl slower ones. Want to say congratulations to each and every fan of CSK. Just keep cheering the way you’ve been cheering,” Jadeja told STAR Sports after the match.

Ravindra Jadeja and MS Dhoni reportedly had some conflict last year. MS Dhoni made the decision to relinquish his position as CSK captain just before the 2022 IPL began, and he gave Ravindra Jadeja the reins. However, halfway through the competition, following a dismal run for the team, Jadeja returned the captaincy to Dhoni, who didn’t look that pleased.

In a rare display of emotion, MS Dhoni lifted his most seasoned all-rounder more than a year after Ravindra Jadeja’s game-winning cameo as the two stalwarts celebrated Chennai Super Kings’ fifth IPL championship.
