The Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) on Thursday in a statement took the responsibility of the two blasts that took lives of 103 people on Wednesday.
In their statement the jihadist group said that the two suicide bombers detonated their explosive vests after hundreds of people came together near the grave of slain Iranian commander General Qasem Soleimani, who was killed in 2020 in a US strike.
The blasts were of similar kind to the previous attacks carried out by the ISIS against their targets. The out however did not reveal any other information related to the blasts such as which arms were used in the attack.
Wide anger prevailed among the top ranks of the country following the blasts. This was the worst attack against Iran after 1979 Islamic revolution.
Meanwhile, the Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi and members from his government thought Israel and United States also took part in the blasts. “I warn the Zionist regime: Do not doubt that you will pay a heavy price for this crime and the crimes you have committed, ” he said in a statement.
“Washington says USA and Israel had no role in the terrorist attack in Kerman, Iran. Really? A fox smells its own lair first,” said Mohammad Jamshidi, the Iranian president’s political deputy, taking to his X handle.
“Make no mistake. The responsibility for this crime lies with the US and Zionist regimes (Israel) and terrorism is just a tool,” he said further.
When the Isareli officials were questioned about their involvement in the attack, they refused to give any statement on the incident.
