This year, Prime Minister Narendra Modi led his 10th International Yoga Day celebrations in Jammu and Kashmir during his vist to the Union Territory.
The event took place at the banks of Srinagar’s Dal lake in Sher-e-Kashnir International Convention complex. This year, the theme is “Yoga for Self and Society” stressing upon Yoga’s role in fostering individual as well social well being.
Kashmir valley has witnessed moderate to heavy rainfall along with the Dal Lake. Prime Minister modi performed different yoga asanas with less number of guests due to rain.
Among the guests who are attending the event include Ayush Minister Pratapdao Ganpatrao Jadhav, Lt. Governor Manoj Sinha and others. The event that was expected to begin at 7 am was delayed because of rain.
The Srinagar event is attracting worldwide attention as last PM Modi had led this event at the UN Headquarters in New York. The other locations where PM Modi has led Yoga Day celebrations include Ranchi, Chandigarh, Jabalpur, Dehradun and also Delhi’s Kartavya Path.
