India’s Covid Cases Continuous To Decline, 1.67 Lakh Cases In Last 24 Hours

In the last 24 hours, India has recorded 1.67 lakh new Covid cases, down 20% from yesterday’s figure of 2.09 lakh, bringing the total number of infections in the country to 4,14,69,499.

The weekly positivity rate was 15.25 percent, but the Covid positivity rate declined from 15.7 percent to 11.6 percent. The number of active cases in India is presently 17.43 lakh.

According to the Health Ministry, 1,192 people have died from Covid in the last 24 hours, an increase from the previous day’s 638 fatalities.

So far, 166.03 crore vaccine doses have been administered in the ongoing Covid vaccination drive across the country. Over 75% of the adult population in the country has now been fully vaccinated against COVID-19.

According to a health department bulletin, Jharkhand reported 638 new COVID-19 cases on Tuesday, 95 fewer than the previous day, bringing the total to 4,28,550.

The death toll now stands at 5,301, with another Dhanbad resident succumbing to the disease in the last 24 hours.

Jharkhand currently has 5,258 active cases, with 1,874 people recovering in the last 24 hours, bringing the total number of recoveries to 4,17,991.

According to the health department, Bihar reported 748 new COVID-19 infections on Monday, the first time the state’s daily caseload remained under the four-digit level in in a month.

On January 4, less than 1,000 cases were reported in a single day for the first time.

On Sunday, Bihar reported 1,238 new coronavirus infections.

The active caseload has also decreased to 5,081 from over 35,000 in mid-January.

In the last 24 hours on Tuesday, the number of active COVID-19 cases in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands fell to 365 after 54 more persons were cured of the disease and 17 more tested positive for the virus. For the second day in a row, single-day recoveries outnumbered new infections in the Union Territory. The active caseload was 402 the day before.

The state government has issued new recommendations to remove COVID-19 restrictions in 11 Maharashtra districts, including Mumbai. The guidelines allow for a rise in the number of guests at weddings, as well as the use of swimming pools, water parks, and theatres.

On Tuesday, the infection count in Maharashtra’s Thane district increased by 628 new cases of coronavirus, bringing the total to 7,02,567. On Monday, these new cases were reported. Seven more individuals died as a result of the virus, bringing the total death toll in the area to 11,785, he said, adding that Thane’s COVID-19 mortality rate was 1.67 percent.
