Indian Association Of Lawyers Files Case Against Kanagana Ranaut Over Her Insulting Remarks

A delegation of Indian Association of Lawyers (IAL) members filed a complaint against actor-MP Kangana Ranaut with the district police on Tuesday, claiming that the actor-MP had made disparaging remarks against a certain community and attempted to disrupt the religious harmony of the state.

The delegation, led by Darshan Singh Dhaliwal, a member of the Punjab unit’s working committee of the Indian Lok Sabha, met with SP (Headquarter) Tushar Gupta and requested that a case be filed against Ranaut.

Dhaliwal claimed that the confrontation was started on June 6 when Ranaut insulted Kulwinder Kaur, a policeman of the Central Industrial Security Force. Dhaliwal maintained, “Ranaut tried to break the religious harmony of the state; she must be booked with immediate effect.”

Ranaut, the recently elected MP from Mandi in Himachal Pradesh (HP), was allegedly smacked by the constable as he crossed the security hold area. Kulwinder was later arrested in response to a CISF official’s allegation. A departmental investigation is underway on her.
