India To Supply Vaccine Vials To Its Neighbours

An Indian state-run company is appointed to buy vaccines from the Serum Institute of India Ltd. and Bharat Biotech International Ltd. for supplying them to Nepal, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Afghanistan, Seychelles and Mauritius.

One of world’s largest manufacturers of vaccines, India, plans to supply 20 million doses of Coronavirus vaccines to its neighbours, Nepal, Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka India, Seychelles and Mauritius. As mentioned in a drawn up policy to supply vaccine vials to the countries worldwide.

An India state run company has been appointed with the task of buying the vaccines from the Serum Institute of India Ltd. and Bharat Biotech International Ltd. Who will then supply them to Nepal, Bangladesh, Afghanistan, Sri Lanka, Mauritius and Seychelles. Some of the Supplied vaccines will be free to be treated as aid.

The government is planning to offer the vaccines to Africa, America and former soviet republics after the first shipment to its neighbours in the next two weeks, people having the information on the subject. However, the spokesperson of Bharat Biotech couldn’t comment over the subject while the spokesman of Serum Institute directly denied to comment.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi wants India to get a leadership in vaccine manufacturing by supplying countries battling the coronavirus pandemic and raise the standard of its neighbours to its rival China, which is also South Asian nation’s profile to rival China, which is also supplying its home made vacciness around the globe.

Brazil, which has the highest number of cases and South Africa has sought supplies of vaccines urgently. Prime Minister agreed to supply vaccines with the immediate effect for which Brazil’s Health Minister is sending an aircraft to India for taking the shipments. And the Serum Institute will supply 2 million doses of vaccines to South America.

However, the Chief Executive Officer of Serum Institute Adar Poonawalla said in an interview that he is expecting overseas supplies around March only after meeting the India’s initial requirements. The Serum Institute of India is manufacturing a vaccine ordered by AstraZeneca while Bharat Biotech is developing a fully indigenous one.
