India Reshuffles National Security Advisory Board After Pahalgam Terror Attack

The National Security Advisory Board (NSAB) has been redesigned by the Union administration. The head of the National Security Advisory Board (NSAB) is Alok Joshi, a former chief of the Research and Analysis Wing (RAW). The board has also seen the induction of six additional members.

Among the members are retired military officers Rear Admiral Monty Khanna, former Southern Army Commander Lieutenant General A.K. Singh, and former Western Air Commander Air Marshal P.M. Sinha. The two retired Indian Police Service officers are Manmohan Singh and Rajiv Ranjan Verma. B Among the seven members of the board is Venkatesh Varma, a retired IFS official. This decision follows the Pahalgam terrorist incident, which left 26 innocent bystanders dead, including one Nepalese national, and numerous more injured.

This afternoon marked the end of the Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS) meeting that Prime Minister Narendra Modi called at his home in the wake of the Pahalgam terrorist attack. The Prime Minister’s home hosted two more committee sessions in addition to the CCS meeting: the Cabinet Committee on Political Affairs (CCPA) and the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA). There will be a cabinet briefing today at 3:00 PM.

Following the Pahalgam event, security readiness was the topic of the second CCS meeting. The terrorist incident in Pahalgam, which claimed the lives of 25 Indians and one Nepali, was thoroughly detailed to the Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS) during its most recent meeting on April 23.

The cross-border connections of the terrorist act were highlighted in the briefing given to the CCS. It was mentioned that this attack followed the Union Territory’s successful elections and consistent advancements in economic development and growth. The government then sent a strong message to Pakistan for its backing of cross-border terrorism by announcing a number of actions, including the suspension of the Indus Water Treaty.

Prime Minister Modi presided over a meeting earlier Tuesday that was attended by the three service chiefs, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, and Chief of Defence Staff Gen. Anil Chauhan. According to the sources, PM Modi showed total faith and confidence in the Indian Armed Forces’ professional capabilities. The mode, targets, and timing of India’s reaction are entirely up to the Indian Armed Forces, according to PM Modi.
