India Reports 3.06 Lakh Fresh Covid Cases. 3 Lakh Mark For Fifth Straight Day

India reported 3.06 lakh new Covid cases in last 24 hours. It’s for the fifth straight day that the country has reported more than 3 lakh cases. However, today’s cases are 8% lower than yesterday.

After today’s addition, India’s Covid tally now makes India the second worst hit country in the world after US.

The active cases presently involve 5.69 percent of all the infections, while the public COVID-19 recovery rate has declined to 93.07%. The daily positivity rate has increased from 17.78% to 20.75% while the weekly rate was recorded at 17.03%.

Meanwhile, the Covid vaccination has crossed 162.26 crore doses so far. Around 72% of adult population of India is now fully vaccinated, while around 52% of children aged between 15-18 have been administered with their first dose of vaccination.

According to the Union Health Ministry, 439 people have died due to Covid in last 24 hours and the ministry also said that those who have died during this wave of Covid-19 were either fully unvaccinated or partially.

The worst hit Maharashtra in last 24 hours reported 40,805 new Covid cases with 44 deaths, out of which Mumbai’s tally stood at 2,550 cases with 13 deaths. Schools in Maharashtra including Mumbai were opened today for offline classes for all the classes 1-12.

While, Delhi registered 9,197 new cases, which is 19% lower than yesterday. The positivity rate in the national capital also dropped to 13.3% from 16.3% a day before. The deaths in the city were reported 35 in last 24 hours.

The prevalent Omicron variant is now in community transmission phase, in which cases are rising exponentially in many metro cities, said INSACOG, the Centre’s research body.
