In Nashik, Maharashtra, early this morning, a bus caught fire, injuring 38 people and killing at least 11, according to authorities.
They stated that the bus caught fire after colliding with a trailer truck hauling diesel on the Nashik-Aurangabad route.
“The majority of those deceased were sleeper coach passengers on the bus. For medical attention, the injured have been transported to the hospital “Deputy Nashik Police Commissioner Amol Tambe said.
He stated that an investigation is ongoing to determine the precise cause of the fire and that a case has been filed.
Videos showed the bus being completely consumed by a big ball of fire as firefighters battled to put it out.
According to witnesses, the accident happened at 5.15 am, at which point they summoned the police and an ambulance.
They said they were powerless to help the passengers because the fire was so strong.
PM Modi has announced that the families of those who lost a family member in the accident will receive financial help of Rs 2 lakh each. Rs 50,000 would be paid to the injured.
The family members of those killed in the disaster would receive compensation of Rs. 5 lakh each, according to Chief Minister Eknath Shinde.
According to state minister Dada Bhuse, the Maharashtra government will cover the wounded patients’ medical costs.
Given that some of the injured people’s conditions are critical, officials warned that the accident’s death toll could rise.
