Following limits on alcohol and group rides during Holi imposed by Hyderabad and Cyberabad police, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has denounced the Telangana government’s “anti-Hindu” policy. Shehzad Poonawalla of the BJP claimed that the anti-Hindu objective of the Telangana Congress government was once again visible. “Now, they are restricting Holi celebrations in Telangana. Hindus are being told how to celebrate their festival!” he added.
On Wednesday, Rachakonda Police Commissioner G Sudheer Babu issued an order directing liquor stores to close from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. on March 14 in observance of the Holi holiday. With the exception of those in upscale hotels and licensed clubs, the order mandates that wine shops, toddy shops, and bars connected to eateries within the Rachakonda Police Commissionerate stay closed.
In a separate direction released on Wednesday, Cyberabad Police Commissioner Avinash Mohanty cautioned individuals against smearing others with color in a way that causes disruption and advised them not to throw water or color on strangers, cars, or public areas.
Additionally, the rule forbids groups from driving around on roads in an aimless manner that would annoy other people. From 6 a.m. on March 14 until 6 a.m. on March 15, this rule will be in force.
