Hooghly And Howrah On Continuous Boil Since Ram Navami Procession

Fresh violence broke out in Bengal’s Rishra on Monday night. Railways services were adversely affected and many trains were also damaged.

Earlier, clashes happened in the state during a BJP’s procession.

As told by the Eastern Railway Chief Public Relations Officer Kaushik Mitra, the railway services were suspended in the Howrah-Bandel region pertaining to the events of stone pelting. However, the services were resumed in few hours.

The Riot control force has been permanently deployed in Bengal’s Hooghly for some time now following a series of violence since Ram Navami. However, they are focusing now more on the Rishra area to prevent any further clash.

Howrah and Hooghly districts have been continuously on boil since Ram Navami.

On Thursday, many vehicles were set ablaze and many were vandalized in Howrah after two groups clashed. The police ended up using tear gas shells to bring back the situation under control.

Amid these ongoing clashes in the state, the Trinamool Congress led by Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee suspended internet services in several places.
