Hemant Soren’s Wife Kalpana Soren To Take CM Post If He’s Arrested

If Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren is jailed, his wife Kalpana Soren may take over as his replacement, according to sources within his Jharkhand Mukti Morcha Party. The Enforcement Directorate is scheduled to examine Mr. Soren today on an alleged money laundering case. After his statement is recorded, there’s a possibility the agency will arrest him.

According to sources, Mr. Soren made the news tonight during a gathering of the ruling alliance’s MLAs. The MLAs concurred since, at this moment, maintaining the government is essential.

Banna Gupta, the state’s Congress minister for health, told reporters on Tuesday, “We, all the MLAs of the alliance, of Congress, are fully supporting the Chief Minister.”

However, Mrs. Soren’s takeover may face legal challenges.

By-polls cannot be called if the Assembly’s term expires in less than a year, according to constitutional restrictions. It would then be challenging for Kalpana Soren to be elected as an MLA.

The Jharkhand assembly is scheduled to convene in November of this year.

According to sources, a legal opinion will be sought in this case if necessary, or another person will assume the top position.

The agency claims that the ₹ 600-crore land fraud comprises a “huge racket” to transfer ownership of government land, which was then sold to builders.

Mr Soren has claimed that he is the target of a huge conspiracy.
