Gyanvapi Issue To Create ‘Destabilising Effect’ Like Babri Masjid, Says Owaisi

The All India Majlis-E-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) leader Asaduddin Owaisi claimed on Monday that the Gyanvapi Shringar Gauri dispute’s district court decision would have a “destabilizing effect” and that the situation appeared to be following the same course as the Babri Masjid controversy. He said that the Places of Worship Act of 1991 would be rendered ineffective as a result of this decision.

Owaisi, who discussed the matter with reporters in Hyderabad, claimed that he had forewarned everyone that the Babri Masjid ruling would cause issues in the nation because it was based only on religious principles.

“After this, a destabilizing effect will begin; we’re headed down the same road as the Babri Masjid issue,” a person said.

The Hyderabad MP stated, “I feel that following this order, the purpose of the Places of Worship Act 1991 will collapse. There should be an appeal in high court against this order. I hope the Anjuman Intezamia Masjid Committee will appeal against this order.

Earlier that day, a Varanasi court denied the masjid committee’s request to dismiss a lawsuit filed by five Hindu women demanding the right to worship inside the masjid property. The committee oversees the Gyanvapi mosque. The committee will file a petition with the Allahabad HC against the district court’s ruling.

On September 22, district judge AK Vishvesh rendered a decision in the Gyanvapi Shrinagar Gauri dispute case and scheduled a follow-up hearing.

The next hearing in the Gyanvapi mosque issue is scheduled for September 22. According to counsel Vishnu Shankar Jain, who is standing up for the Hindu side, the court rejected the Muslim side’s plea and declared the litigation to be maintainable.

Five ladies submitted the petition, which asked for authorization to allow daily worship of Hindu deities whose idols are allegedly located on the exterior wall of the nearby Gyanvapi mosque. The mosque is next to the Kashi Vishwanath temple.
