Former Telangana CM KCR Hospitalized After Fall At Home

Following a fall at his residence, former Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao was admitted to a hospital in Hyderabad at around two in the morning. After tripping and falling in his home’s lavatory, KCR was taken to Yashoda Hospital in the city.

After doing CT scans, the medical professionals discovered that the 69-year-old former chief minister had a fractured left hip. According to a medical bulletin, KCR’s status is stable. However, it also stated that he would need a left hip replacement, and recovery time in these circumstances is typically six to eight weeks. Since losing the state assembly elections three days ago, the former chief minister has been hosting gatherings at his house.

In addition to wishing KCR a swift recovery, Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his distress over the news that former Telangana chief minister Shri KCR Garu had sustained an injury. I offer prayers for his quick healing and well-being.”

KCR held the position of Chief Minister of Telangana from 2014 till 2023, following his party Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS)’s loss by the Congress in the recently held Assembly Elections.

In the Telangana election, KCR ran for two seats; he won the Gajwel seat but lost to Kamareddy. He was beaten from the Kamareddy seat by Katipally Venkata Ramana Reddy of the BJP, who also defeated KCR and Revanth Reddy.

Congress’s Revanth Reddy was sworn in as the Chief Minister of Telangana yesterday along with 11 ministers.

The Congress won 64 seats in the 119-member Telangana assembly, while the BRS got only 39. This was BRS’ first defeat since the birth of Telangana in 2014.

In an extensive poll campaign, the party tried to highlight all its welfare schemes for the poor. However, the implementation of some schemes had given an inordinate amount of power to MLAs to decide on the distribution of funds, leading to allegations of discrimination as well as corruption.

KCR did warn these MLAs to buck up and improve their performance but ended up giving poll tickets to all of them. The result: most of these seats went to the Congress.
