As per the sources, the former Mumbai Police Commissioner and senior IPS officer Param Bir Singh may be suspended today for his “indiscipline and other irregularities.
The Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray has signed the suspension file and hence the order is likely to be announced today, sources in the Chief Minister’s Office said.
An IAS officer Debashish Chakraborty had conducted an inquiry against Mr Singh for violation of All India Civil Service Rules. The Maharashtra government has sought his report in the matter.
On the other side, the Maharashtra Home department had also conducted an inquiry against Mr Singh for administrative lapses.
Maharashtra Home Minister Dilip Walse-Patil had earlier hinted also that Param Bir Singh would be soon suspended.
“We’re in the process of taking legal action against former Mumbai Police Commissioner Param Bir Singh for his indiscipline and other irregularities. The process for his suspension is also underway,” said Mr Patil.
