Former Army Chief And Other Top Defence Officers Join Bharat Jodo Yatra

On Sunday, Deepak Kapoor, a former Army Chief General, and other senior retired defence officials joined Rahul Gandhi’s Bharat Jodo Yatra in Haryana.

The Congress yatra resumed in the morning from Dodwa in Karnal’s Nilokheri region and entered the Kurukshetra district later that day under cold waves and thick fog. Rahul Gandhi led the yatra as several Congress supporters were seen dancing while bare-chested.

Senior party leaders Bhupinder Singh Hooda, Randeep Singh Surjewala, and Kumari Selja are part of the Yatra’s Haryana leg.

“Ex-COAS (chief of Army staff) Gen Deepak Kapoor, Lt Gen R K Hooda, Lt Gen VK Narula, AM (air marshal) PS Bhangu, Maj Gen Satbir Singh Chaudhary, Maj Gen Dharmender Singh, Col Jitender Gill, Col Pushpender Singh, Lt Gen DDS Sandhu, Maj Gen Bishamber Dayal, and Col Rohit Chaudhry join Rahul Gandhi at the Bharat Jodo Yatra,” the Congress said in a tweet.

Gandhi will hoist the national flag in Srinagar, where the yatra will come to an end on January 30 after departing from Kanyakumari in Tamil Nadu on September 7. Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Delhi, and Uttar Pradesh have so far been covered by the march.
