Union Finance Minister Niramala Sitharaman is all set to declare the National Monetisation pipeline plan today.
The pipeline for about Rs 6 lakh crore worth of assets has been recognized for FY22 to FY25, said sources.
“The funds from monetisation will be utlised for National Infra Pipeline investment,” the sources futher said.
The investment department and the Public Asset Management (DIPAM) Secretary Tuhin Kanta Pandey had recently said that the government is confirming Rs 6 lakh crore worth infrastructure assets, including national highways and power grid pipelines, which would be monetised.
“A national monetisation plan of about Rs 6 trillion is in the offing which will have a range of assets from pipelines to power grid pipelines to national highways, ToT (toll-operate-transfer) and so on,” said Pandey.
The Union Budget 2021-22, laid focus on asset monetisation as a way to raise innovative and alternative financing for infrastructure. In her Budget speech, Sitharaman had said that monetisining operating public infrastructure assets was a vital financing alternative for new foundation.
