Farmers’ Protests Will Carry Forward Till October 2, Said BKU leader Rakesh Tikait

"Now, a rally of 40 lakh and not four lakh tractors will be taken out," told Rakesh Tikait.

The Bharatiya Kisan Union (BKU) leader Rakesh Tikait on Tuesday said that the farmers’ protests will move forward and spread all across the country. He said this while addressing a ‘Kisan Mahapanchayat’ at Pehowa in Kurukshetra distrct of Haryana.

“Now, a rally of 40 lakh and not four lakh tractors will be taken out,” told Rakesh Tikait.

Directing towards the criticism by Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s on agitating farmers, Tikait said, “He [PM] has never been part of any agitation in his life. In fact, he did the job of breaking the nation. What would he know about Andolanjivis?”

“Bhagat Singh, even Lal Krishna Advani were part of agitations,” Tikait further said.

The BKU leader also said that the protests will continue till 2 October of this year, “But the protest will not end even after that. Farmers will keep returning to the protest sites in shifts”.

When asked why he was holding addresses in Haryana he asked, “Is holding a Mahapanchayat in Haryana prohibited?”

On Sunday, before addressing in Haryana he has addressed in a ‘Kisan Mahapanchayat’ in Bhawani district of Rajasthan and in Haryana also he had addressed a large gathering in Jind district of Haryana.

With leaders from around 40 farmers’ unions, Rakesh Tikait has been part of all 11 rounds of consultations with the central government and he has been also the face of Delhi’s Gazipur protest.
