On Sunday night, Aamir Khan released the teaser for his highly anticipated and long-awaited film Laal Singh Chaddha. Kareena Kapoor also appears in the film, which is a replica of Tom Hanks’ Hollywood smash Forrest Gump. Aamir plays a Sikh man who joins the army, becomes a track star, falls in love, has his heart shattered, and goes on to live an adventurous life.
Since the trailer’s release, many people have expressed their dissatisfaction on social networking sites such as Twitter, Reddit, and Instagram. A few people commented on how terrible Aamir’s Punjabi sounded, and how he was wearing the same popped-eyes face he wore in PK, Dhoom 3, and 3 Idiots. Others were simply dissatisfied with Aamir Khan’s decision to make his acting comeback after five years with a remake that appears to be a’spoof’ of the original.

On Reddit, someone commented on Aamir’s performance, saying, “I am autistic, and this is not how autistic people behave. In Dhoom 3, he did the same thing, and I was furious. Couldn’t he, as a perfectionist, have at least consulted an autistic person if he intended to play the part? This is caricaturistic and, to be honest, mocking.” Someone likened his performance to Salman Khan’s movie Bajrangi Bhaijaan. “I’m going to say something controversial, but even Bhai was better in Bajrangi Bhaijaan, which has similar themes…Aamir ne kya kar diya,” says the actor.
Following their collaboration in Secret Superstar, Aamir and Advait Chandan have reunited for Laal Singh Chadda. The film, which stars Chaitanya Akkineni and is produced by Aamir Khan Productions, Kiran Rao, and Viacom18 Studios, will be released on August 11, 2022.
