Retro, starring Suriya and Pooja Hegde, is now available in theaters. Despite the film’s conflicts with Ajay Devgn’s Raid-2 and Nani’s HIT-3, Suriya’s fans packed theaters to see his most recent release. Netizens are sharing their thoughts on the movie as “RetroFDFS” (Retro First Day First Show) becomes popular on X (previously Twitter).
An X user watched the first half of Retro and reviewed the film. “#Retro :First Half: A smooth build-up with restrained energy no major highs yet. But when stacked against Suriya’s recent outings, this first half shines the brightest. A promising start,” it read. Suriya is seen dancing passionately in a clip from the movie that has been successfully shared by a number of other people. “Kanimaaa What a dance Suriya and pooja hegde rocked Santosh narayan superb music and dance,” wrote a user.
Pooja Hegde’s performance in Retro was hailed by another user as the best of her career. “#Retro my honest review +VE: – Pooja’s career best perfo .. she literally gave it all for this film – 1st half screenplay, interval, mass scenes are – As always BGM different level – Camera movements & visuals Negative: Nothing,” wrote the fan.
Karthik Subbaraj is directing Retro. Suriya portrays a feared mobster in the movie who is attempting to get away from his violent past. However, as he falls in love, he is dragged into an emotional reckoning. “It’s not the usual arc of redemption,” Karthik explained, adding, “It’s about a man who doesn’t even know what peace feels like until he meets someone who makes him believe it’s possible. That tension between who he was and who he wants to be that’s where the romance breathes.”
Subbaraj is renowned for his convoluted storylines and gritty visuals. Working with romance as the main topic presented a unique set of difficulties, he claimed: “It’s easy to make action look cool.” However, the difficulty is in making love feel genuine, particularly in a world like today. You must earn it. Joju George and Jayaram play important roles in Retro as well.
