Exit Poll Predicts Big Win For PM Modi In Gujarat, AAP To Sweep In MCD Polls, BJP-Congress On Edge In Himachal

The exit poll on Monday predicted a landslide victory for BJP with Prime Minister Narendra Modi taking his party to biggest win in his home state. The party is even expected to hold on to Himachal Pradesh.

While, four exit polls have predicted a win for Aam Aadmi Party led by Arvind Kejriwal in Delhi’s civic body election.

Despite massive campaigning the AAP is still expected to be third by securing only single digits.
If proven true, it will be the seventh straight win for BJP in Gujarat, it boosted Party’s morale ahead the 2024 general elections.

The exit poll results have shown 132 out of 182 seats for BJP, 38 seats for Congress and its allies, while for AAP only 8 seat.

It may be BJP’s best ever win after the 2002 elections, which were held months after the riots in the state that killed around 1,000 people, mostly Muslims.

Meanwhile, the Congress’ performance is likely to drop since 2017, when it did not let BJP to cross double digits (99) and gave its best ever performance after 1985. Its campaign was also listless as all importance was given to Bharat Jodo Yatra led by Rahul Gandhi. The AAP has emerged out as the main opponent to BJP.

The exit polls have also predicted an edge win for BJP for the second straight term in Himachal Pradesh. Predicting the majority mark for BJP the polls have shown 35 out 68 seats, while for Congress it has shown close behind 29 seats. AAP may not even exist in the state.

As there has been shift between the two parties, the BJP and Congress are still in tight fight in the hill state as per the exit polls.

The results for the Gujarat and Himachal Pradesh assembly elections will be declared on December 8, while the results for Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) will be declared a day earlier.
