End of a 30-Year Hunt, UP ATS Captures Khalistani Terrorist Mangat Singh

Late Wednesday evening, Mangat Singh, also known as Manga, a member of the outlawed Khalistan Commando Force (KCF), was taken into custody by the Uttar Pradesh Anti-Terror Squad (ATS). Mangat Singh, who had been on the run since 1995 and carried a reward of ₹25,000, was caught by a joint squad from the Noida unit and Ghaziabad police, the ATS said in a statement.

According to reports, Mangat Singh was taken into custody from a village in Amritsar, Punjab. “The Uttar Pradesh ATS has arrested the banned terrorist organisation Khalistan Commando Force (KCA) terrorist Mangat Singh alias Manga late on Wednesday night. He had a reward of ₹25,000 on his head. A joint team of the Noida unit and the Ghaziabad police has arrested him,” it said.

Charges against the Khalistani terrorist included attempted murder as well as violations of the Arms Act and the Terrorist and Disruptive Activities (Prevention) Act. In 1993, a formal complaint was filed against him.

The official news release states that Mangat Singh was arrested in 1993 and released on bail in 1995. Since then, according to the police, he has been evading capture. In a different robbery and extortion case, he was also wanted.

The leader of the outlawed Khalistan Commando Force was Sangat Singh, the brother of Mangat Singh. In 1990, he was slain during a confrontation with Punjab Police.
