According to information provided by sources, some of the Twitter engineers have been required to work 12 hours per day, seven days per week. To achieve Elon Musk’s strict deadline for modifications, Twitter administrators have informed staff that they will need to put in more hours.
According to internal correspondence, managers at Twitter have told certain employees to work 12-hour shifts seven days a week in order to meet Musk’s tight targets.
The cited source also disclosed that the engineers have reportedly been given a deadline of early November and if they do not meet the requirements, then they may lose their jobs. The employees have reportedly been asked to work additional hours without any discussion about “overtime pay or comp time, or about job security.”
According to the report, finishing a task by the early November deadline was “considered as a make-or-break matter for their careers at Twitter.” According to reports, Elon Musk is threatening employees with layoffs of up to 50% as a means of getting them to obey the directive.
Elon Musk intends to raise the cost of the Twitter Blue membership and change how Blue tick users are verified. In order to deploy the premium verification feature by November 7 or risk losing their jobs, Musk has given Twitter engineers this ultimatum. Other tasks may also have deadlines.
Additionally, the Blue tick badge will only be available with this subscription, a choice that has drawn strong criticism on Twitter due to its exorbitant price. Musk questioned people on Twitter if $8 (about Rs 660) for the subscription, which was originally planned to cost $19.99 (roughly Rs 1,600), would be reasonable.
But why does Musk intend to raise the cost? On Twitter, he argued that the website needed additional income and couldn’t solely rely on ads to do so. However, a lot of people are suggesting that paying roughly Rs 1,600 for a Blue Tick and a few other benefits that users will receive with a Twitter Blue subscription is not rational or worthwhile.
