ED Summons Arvind Kejriwal For Questioning In Liquor Policy Scam After SC Rejects Manish Sisodia’s Bail Plea

The Enforcement Directorate has finally summoned AAP chief and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal for questioning in alleged liquor policy scam at 11 am today. It is speculated that Mr Kejriwal might be arrested.

The probing agency summoned the chief minister hours after the Supreme Court rejected the bail petition filed the former deputy chief minister Manish Sisodia, who is the prime accused in the case. In their earlier judgement the judges had said that a money trail of ₹ 338 crore was tentatively established.

In April, the Central Bureau of Investigation had questioned Mr Kejriwal in the case and it is for the first time that ED has summoned him for questioning.

Meanwhile, responding to the summon by the probing agency Delhi minister and AAP leader Saurabh Bharadwaj said, “The Central government has only one objective – to destroy the Aam Aadmi Party at any cost. For this, they are leaving no stone unturned, including creating a fake case. The idea is to send Arvind Kejriwal to jail and destroy the Aam Aadmi Party.”

During an interview Mr Bharadwaj had already hinted that Mr Kejriwal may be arrested and when he was questioned whether the Aam Aadmi Party had a Plan B he said, “As of now, I don’t know and I don’t think there’s any discussion about it. Kejriwal is our leader and we will work under his direction”.

Another AAP leader and Delhi Minister Atishi has also claimed that Mr Kejriwal would be taken into custody after questioning. She further said that this would not happen because ED had any evidence but because he spoke against BJP.

Many leaders from the Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance (INDIA) have criticized the summons made by the agencies and stressed upon the misuse of central agencies by the central government led by BJP.
