Discrimination in Bollywood? Zoya Hussain Opens Up About Instagram Follower Count Impacting Career

What can you do to ensure a part in a movie? Although skill is evident, a new and unexpected criterion that has emerged is one’s Instagram presence, which actress Zoya Hussain claims she has experienced. Zoya, who gained recognition for her breakthrough role in the Disney+ Hotstar series Grahan and Anurag Kashyap’s Mukkabaaz, claims that she has been “dropped” from projects due to her decreased number of app followers.

Currently starring in Bhaiyya Ji, starring Manoj Bajpayee, is Zoya Hussain. She has previously been in the music videos for Prateek Kuhad’s Cold Mess, When Chai Met Toast, and the Prime Video series Big Girls Don’t Cry. It is her first theatrical release since her 2017 debut and the actor says it feels exhilarating as, unlike star kids, she wasn’t handed anything on a platter and didn’t have “marketing or PR push” backing her.

In an interview, Zoya Hussain talks about her Bollywood journey, which has tested her patience, made her reflect, broken her from within but also has given her the will to march on. “Craft has very little to do with most things, unfortunately, that’s how it rolls,” the actor says as she opens up about her career.
