Officially, director Aishwarya Rajinikanth and actor-director Dhanush are no longer together. On Wednesday, November 27, the couple was granted a divorce by the Chennai family court. Before deciding to divorce due to irreconcilable differences, they had been married for eighteen years. Yatra and Linga, their two sons, are their children.
After declaring their separation in January 2022, Dhanush and Aishwarya Rajinikanth filed for divorce earlier this year. Dhanush and Aishwarya were eventually present in Chennai court on November 21 for the in-camera sessions, despite the fact that they had missed the court hearing three times.
Judge Subhadevi of the family court questioned Dhanush and Aishwarya over their choice. Following their expression of desire to separate, the judge declared that the final decision would be rendered on November 27.
In 2004, Aishwarya and Dhanush were married in a lavish ceremony in Chennai. Film business heavyweights and political heavyweights attended their wedding. Dhanush is the son of director Kasthuri Raja and Vijayalakshmi, whilst Aishwarya is the daughter of Rajinikanth and Latha Rajinikanth.
Dhanush and Aishwarya announced their decision to part ways in a joint statement on January 17, 2022.
Their statement read, “18 years of togetherness as friends, couple, as parents and well-wishers to each other. The journey has been of growth, understanding, adjusting and adapting. Today we stand at a place where our paths separate. Aishwaryaa/Dhanush and I have decided to part ways as a couple and take time to understand us as individuals for the better. Please do respect our decion and give us the needed privacy to deal with this (sic).”
Yatra and Linga, Dhanush and Aishwarya’s children, are still co-parented after their split.
