Delhi Vice-President Of Congress Rejoins Party In Hours After Joining AAP

The vice-president of Delhi Congress, Ali Mehdi, said he returned to the venerable party in the early hours of Saturday, just hours after joining the Aam Aadmi Party. Mehdi declared on Twitter, “I am a Rahul Gandhi worker.” He further mentioned that fellow council members Nazia Khatoon from Brijpuri and Sabila Begum from Mustafabad, who had joined the AAP alongside him, have returned to the Congress.

Mehdi’s intention to return to Congress was announced after demonstrations against it broke out in Mustafabad and party members criticised him for leaving the fold.

Mehdi was referred to as a “snake” by Manu Jain, the Indian Youth Congress’s social media coordinator.

However, other party leaders are expressing their support online in response to Mehdi’s statement that he has rejoined Congress.

In the elections for the Municipal Corporation of Delhi, the AAP declared a resounding victory, taking 134 of the 250 wards. In the election, nine candidates for the Congress won, but after Sabila Begum and Nazia Khatoon declared their joining the AAP, there were just seven winners for the Congress.
