Delhi To Impose Weekend Curfew To Curb Spread Of Coronavirus

The government has decided to implement a weekend curfew in order to curb the spread of coronavirus infections in Delhi, where the number of Covid cases is rapidly increasing. Manish Sisodia, the Deputy Chief Minister, cautioned residents on Tuesday not to leave their houses unless it was for a medical necessity.

From 10 p.m. on Friday to 5 a.m. on Monday, there will be a weekend curfew. The regular nighttime curfew will remain in effect.

The following people are exempt from the weekend curfew in Delhi:
1) Those working in essential or emergency services will be permitted to leave during the weekend and night curfews if they produce proper identification cards.

2) Officials from the central government, autonomous or subordinate government offices, and PSUs shall not be required to produce legitimate identification cards.

3) On submission of valid identity cards, service ID cards, entry passes with photos, or permission letters issued by the court administration, judges and all judicial officers, staff members of all Delhi courts, as well as advocates and legal counsels involved in the cases, would be exempted.

4) On display of a valid identity card, employees in the offices of various countries’ diplomats, as well as those holding any constitutional post, shall be excused from the curfews.

5) On production of a valid ID card, medical personnel such as doctors, nurses, paramedics, and those working in other medical services such as hospitals, diagnostic centres, testing laboratories, clinics, pharmacies, pharmaceutical companies, medical oxygen suppliers, and other medical and health services will be exempt from the weekend curfew.

6) Pregnant women and patients who will receive medical and health services with the assistance of a companion, upon presentation of valid identification cards and doctor’s prescriptions.

7) Anyone who wishes to be tested for Covid-19 or vaccinated must present a valid identification card.

8) Passengers arriving at or departing from airports, railway stations, and interstate bus terminals shall be permitted to leave during curfews if they have valid tickets.

9) Employees working in the electronic and print media will be exempted if they can show a valid ID card.

10) On the provision of authentic admit cards, candidates or students will be permitted to appear in examinations. On display of a valid identity card or an examination duty order, workers assigned to exam tasks will be permitted to travel.

11) Individuals will be allowed to move for wedding-related meetings if they produce a soft or physical copy of the wedding invitation. Such meetings must be kept to a maximum of 20 people.
