Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal tweeted this morning that he has tested positive for Covid and has isolated himself at home.
“I have tested positive for Covid. Mild symptoms. Have isolated myself at home. Those who came in touch with me in last few days, kindly isolate yourself and get yourself tested,” he tweeted this morning.
The AAP Chief has been campaigning in Punjab, Uttarakhand and Uttar Pradesh for upcoming assembly elections.
Delhi’s positivity rate has also increased to 6.46% and the number of cases registered in the national capital in last 24 hours stood ag 4.099 on Monday.
As per an official statement, around 6,288 Covid-19 patients and suspected cases of the virus are under home isolation in the city.
A death was also reported on Monday in the national capital.
Meanwhile, on the growing numbers of cases in Delhi, the experts say omicron is the reason.
The Delhi Disaster Management Authority is set to take a decision on the prevailing situation as this surge in cases may call for new restrictions in the colour-coded Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP).
As the positivity rate remained above 5 for two consecutive days, a red alert was imposed in Delhi, under which restrictions like a complete curfew except essential services and complete shutdown of malls, salons and shops except the essential ones with curbs on public transport and all sort of public gatherings.
While, there is already a yellow alert in the national capital since December 29, under which Cinemas and gyms were closed and shops were allowed to open on odd-even basis. Metros and buses were also running with 50% capacity.
