Delegation Of 21 Opposition Leaders To Visit Manipur Today, BJP Unhappy With The Move

A delegation of 21 Opposition leaders is scheduled to visit violence hit Manipur to take stock of the situation in the state which has been raging for three months now.

The members who will be visiting the state include Gaurav Gogoi of Congress, Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury, Kanimozhi of DMK, Sushmita Dev of TMC, JDU Chief Rajiv Ranjan and Manoj Kumar Jha of RJD among others.

As per the sources, they will land in Imphal around noon today and then by chopper they will directly leave for Churchandpur to meet the Kuki tribe, women and civilians. The delegation will stay in the state for two days.

Before coming back to Imphal, they will even visit the relief camps to meet the victims of the violence and also the members from the Meitei community.

Meanwhile, BJP has accused the Opposition of trying to aggravate the situation in the northwestern state. Former Union Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad has strongly opposed the move taken by the newly formed INDIA alliance.

Congress leader Gaurav Gogoi who moved no-confidence motion against Prime Minister Narendra said, “they will go to Manipur and find out the truth and will put forward that truth before Parliament”. “The government has failed, so we want to go there and see what solution can be found,” said Trinamool’s Sushmita Dev. RJD’s Manoj Jha said “Manipur needs to be heard” and they are “trying to listen to the people of Manipur and understand their situation, ” he added.

Since the beginning of the Monsoon Session of the Parliament the Manipur has been on the top of all the issues in both the Houses as MPs from Opposition have continuously been demanding a detailed discussion over the issue and also a statement from Prime Minister.

However, the centre has maintained that Union Home Minister Amit Shah will be addressing the whole situation.
