If any complaints made by CUET-UG applicants regarding the exam’s administration are determined to be valid, the National Testing Agency will retest the students from July 15 to July 19, officials announced on Sunday.
The undergraduate entrance exam answer key was also released by the NTA, which cleared the path for the eventual, if belated, release of the results.
“The candidates can submit their challenges for the answer key by 6 pm on July 9,” a senior NTA official said.
“The NTA is also addressing public grievances regarding the exam conducted for CUET-UG that were received up to June 30. If a grievance is found genuine, the NTA is committed to redoing the exam for these candidates at selected centres any day between July 15 and 19,” the official added.
The NTA officials refrained from commenting on the complaints that the agency had received; however, candidates had complained about technical difficulties and time loss at specific exam locations.
“Challenges made by the candidates will be verified by a panel of subject experts. Based on the revised final answer key, the result will be declared,” the official said.
The CUET-UG results are being delayed in the midst of a heated dispute concerning purported anomalies in competitive tests, such as NEET and NET.
The CUET-UG exam, which was scheduled to be the nation’s first hybrid exam, was cancelled in Delhi the night before it was to take place due to logistical issues. Later, the exam was held in the nation’s capital.
The third edition of CUET-UG will be finished in seven days, according to a previous announcement from the NTA. Since all tests will be given in a single shift, there won’t be any score normalisation.
Tests were administered in two formats: on paper for 15 participants and on a computer for the other 48.
This year, more than 13.4 lakh applicants registered for the common entrance exam in order to be considered for admission to undergraduate programmes at 261 private, state, deemed, and central universities.
Technical issues beset the exam in its initial administration in 2022. Furthermore, because a subject’s exams were administered over several shifts, the scores had to be normalised when the results were announced.
Amid allegations of irregularities in the NEET and NET PhD entrance exams, the Centre fired NTA Director General Subodh Singh last week and appointed a high-level panel led by the former head of the Indian Space Research Organisation, R Radhakrishnan, to oversee the transparent, efficient, and equitable administration of exams administered through the NTA.
The education ministry got information that the exam’s integrity was compromised, leading to the cancellation of the UGC-NET while the NEET is being scrutinised for other anomalies, including a purported paper leak. The CBI is looking into both of these cases.
