Covid Curve Slightly Improves As India Reports 2.58 Lakh Fresh Cases, 5% Record Down From Monday

India’s Covid curve improved slightly today, with 2.58 lakh cases recorded, down about 5% from yesterday. According to the Health Ministry, 385 people have died as a result of Covid in the last 24 hours.

The total number of cases in the country today stands at 3.73 million. This includes 8,209 Omicron variant cases, which are currently found in 29 states.

The current cases now account for 4.43 percent of all infections, while the COVID-19 recovery rate has dropped to 94.27 percent nationwide.

The daily positivity rate increased from 16.28% to 19.65%, while the weekly positivity rate remained at 14.41 percent. The cumulative doses administered in the country so far under the nationwide vaccination drive has exceeded 157.20 crore, the ministry said.

Meanwhile, Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya commended India on reaching 157 crore COVID-19 vaccines in just a year, claiming that India has become a global leader in the fight against coronavirus infection.
